Bald Rock Mountain, in St. Clair County, Alabama is a mountain range that goes for miles. However, the point where Worldsong Missions Place is located and where our SEYC camp takes place every summer is called Stragglers’ Point.
Stragglers’ Point is about 1200 feet above sea level and the road leading to the trail is about 700 feet above sea level. Therefore, the total climb up the mountain is about 500 feet, but if you hiked up to Stragglers’ Point today you would think the total climb is MUCH MORE than just 500 feet! The trail winds up and down, back and forth through woods, rocks and obstacles with the last 100 foot climb being straight up a “bald rock”! No ropes are necessary, but you'll spend a lot of time and effort zigzagging back and forth getting to the TOP!. However, once there the view from the TOP is beautiful! You can see so for miles and on a clear day you can even (vaguely) see Cheaha Mountain (near Anniston)! God’s landscape is so awesome at the summit of Stragglers’ Point. Just ask anyone who has hiked "The Mountain"!
