Team games were implemented the second year of SEYC and have been the BEST fun and fellowship (and competitive, too). Shawn Whittle, from Rome, Georgia is the Team-game coordinator. She brings to camp the knowledge, wisdom and years of experience in teaching teens in school and coaching sports teams in many areas. The team games at SEYC are well planned and SO exciting. The combination of "thinking power", competitiveness, teamwork, safety, and motivation are essential each year.
Campers are divided into about 10 teams with two strong leaders (usually staff or counselors) to explain the rules of each game and also to motivate the campers to "stretch their minds and bodies". Games are a key to breaking down barriers and hang ups that the campers might have brought to camp. New friends are made and challenges are met. Many campers are surprised at the confidence they have after each game, because they have friends to "cheer them on" and a desire to push themselves to a new challenge. The games are designed to use EVERYONE - even the smallest person to the smartest person. Each person is valuable and important each day and they become aware of that as each day progresses.
The team games are SO important and really teach being unified in the Body of Christ.
